Shop / commercial Floors
Hair Salon with modern large 1200x200x9mm porcelain wood grain patterned tiles. These ones are Chinese made and are of surprisingly good quality and great to work with. Of course these tiles have a natural slight bow in them caused by the firing process which makes laying them flat a bit of an art. We laid these on top of the client's previous mat finished tiles. If they had a gloss finish we would have had to rough up the surface or remove them.
We also put a row of black 200x300mm ceramic tiles along the back wall. The room is bare awaiting the return of furnishings. The last four pictures show the Salon in operation after the tiles were layed down and the shop fully fitted out. Both the client and her customers are very happy with the upgraded floor.

Budget tiles for a Chinese fast food joint. Straight forward job.
Garages & Patios
Indoor patio area was tiled over a sloping concrete floor. It required a bit of artwork to get the level right. Ideally I would have liked the concrete pad leveled before hand, however such is life. Again the owners were pleased with the final result and the very tidy cuts around pipes and other things. Having a level surface to begin with makes my job a joy. Fortunately I had good quality tiles to work with, but I had to pack them to get the fall working. Towards the round drain some tiles had to be split diagonally and horizontally to get slope happening, tiling is an art.
Budget Laundry, Kitchen, Bathroom & Toilet Alterations
Studio Apartment repairs or Alterations
Along with mid to large sized projects there are always the little patch up jobs that take a day or two or less. This one was an apartment that had to be modified to conform to the building regulations by moving the sliding doors back 1.5m. The floor was poorly prepared with the floor going downwards towards the door instead of upwards. It would have been better if the builder let me prepared the cement sheet and waterproof it. Instead I had to pack the floor with excess tiles to get the level and incline right. I added some 10mm reducer trim to connect to the new tiles that connect to the old that go out to the landing. Sadly it was not possible to lay them flat. Again this job was done on a budget so I produced a good result to keep the developer happy.
Cobblestones
Assisted the laying of cobblestone Garden Patio with Dry Grouting. Also measure, cut, glue & grouted basalt pavers.
